Condolences

Condolence From: Cathy "Spike" McCaleb
Condolence: 40 years ago this month, Jay drove me and two Old English Sheepdogs to Houston all in a Camaro that had a U-Haul attached. Many times I tried to drive but he wouldn't let me and years later he admitted to me that I scared the heck out of him when I drove for a few miles. If it weren't for him offering to drive me, I would never have been able to move to Houston. We became the best of friends. He once told me I was like a sister to him and so I always called him "little brother." We shared many memories over the last 40 years both in Houston and on my visits home. He always made plans to meet for lunch or dinner and he would say..."If you want to meet for lunch we can go dutch and if you want to meet for dinner it can be on you!" In Houston, we spent every Sunday all day playing softball just for fun and we took care of each other. When he needed a place to live he stayed with me and when I wanted to go have fun we ventured to "Slick Willies" and shot pool. He always made me laugh and I always knew if he was there we would all have a great time laughing and reminiscing. He had a way of connecting with his friends & family that will never be forgotten. His energy was infectious and I cannot think about him with out a smile on my face. So rest in peace little brother. I will miss you always. Condolences to Joan and Steve and all the family. He was a kind, sweet, gentle man who will always be in my heart.
