Jim was always like a great uncle, a great friend, a great mentor. He was always fun to be around, generous in his time and his spirit, and a huge inspiration for both my career and my life. From helping me with science fair projects, he was uniquely able to make biology fun. The one thing he said that will always stick with me was the message he shared from his commencement speech shortly after he retired, when he said that the most important decision anyone can make is how to raise their children. The way he brought up Bob, Julie, and the grandkids is such a testament to what a big heart he had. Love and prayers.
